    Can I add a widget to the nav menu?

    I want to create a widget section on the nav menu side bar area so I can move my copyright information and social links there inside of being on the bottom of the page? Is this possible? Or is there an easier way?

      Hi @nerwin,

      this is absolutely possible. Including this information hard coded within the theme files (the menu can be found in the theme’s header.php) may be much easier and faster to achieve.

      In both cases please use a child theme to prevent future theme updates from overwriting your changes. A prepared child theme folder is linked in the documentation.

      Please understand that we cannot provide help for individual customizations.

      Marc

    Moka theme front page problem

    my website is criticalteaching.co

    I’m still working on setting it up before I transfer all the content

    I’ve tried to set a sticky front page but for some reason it does not show on the front page and I see only the front page widget

    what can be wrong?

      Hi Tali,
      it’s a bit difficult to see for me without seeing the site live. Did you check that you have the “Front Page Sticky” template chosen (and not the slider one). Also did you check that your sticky post is already published?

    Moka: Slider for Images Only

    Is there any way to use the slider just for photos?

      Hi there, so sorry for my late reply. Unfortunately the default supported slider in Moka (via the Jetpack plugin) works only with posts. In this case you would need to implement a different slider plugin and include the needed code for this (and probably some additional CSS styles) yourself.

    Moka Share Buttons

    Hello,

    I recently purchased the Moka theme which I have really been enjoying, it’s a beautiful minimalist theme.

    However, I do not like how the share buttons look on the single post page like here http://nickerwin.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/mokasharesingle.png. It just looks broken and I prefer not to have any visible share buttons. But, I do like how the share buttons look on the main index page like here http://nickerwin.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/mokashareindex.png.

    I’m wondering if its possible to do this on the single content page? I’m sure its really easy but I can’t figure it out. Hopefully someone can help me.

    Thanks!

      Hi @nerwin,

      this can be done by changing the style.css of the theme. A clean way without losing your changes in case of a theme update would be the use of a child theme. A prepared child theme folder is linked in Moka’s documentation. In your special case you’d need to remove the function in the child theme’s functions.php and copy all the original contents of the theme’s style.css to the child theme’s style.css.

      Now you have to find the “.single-post .share…” entries, which style the share buttons differently on single post pages and remove them.

      Best,
      Marc

        Thanks! I got the share box to show up, but I can’t get it to line up properly like the home page. I can get it close but just doesn’t look right.

      Select category for start page in Moka

      Is it possible to define a category / categories to be shown on the Moka start page?

      • Marc (Support-Team) 10:38 am on March 16, 2016 Permalink | Log in to Reply

        Hi @webzunder,

        are you using one of the front page templates provided by Moka or the default posts page as start page? In case of the default posts page, WordPress doesn’t offer an option to select which category is shown and will display all your posts in chronological order, but there are plugins out there which will give you different options on how to choose which posts will appear on the posts page.

        Best,
        Marc

        im Theme Moka zeigt sich das Menü für…

        im Theme Moka, zeigt sich das Menü für die mobile Version farblich nicht … also diese 3 Striche die angezeigt werden, sind nicht zu sehen, sie haben sich der Hintergrundfarbe (weiss) angepasst.
        Ich habe aber im css nichts geändert.
        Ansonsten zeigt sich das Menü ganz normal.

        Ich habe noch ‘ Element untersuchen’ durchgeführt und das sagt mir:
        background: url(images/icons.png) 0 0 no-repeat;

        aber warum? zeigt es sich nicht farblich?

        Heute, 1.03 , habe ich nun anstatt 0 0 >> 50 50 eingegeben und nun sieht man das Menü (die drei Striche)
        das habe ich sonst aber nicht gemacht und es zeigte sich trotzdem ……, warum ist das so?
        kann es an der wordpressversion liegen, die aktuelle 4.4.2, das diese version css anders interpretiert?

        Vielen Dank für eine Antwort und
        beste Grüße!

          Hallo Mariella,

          der CSS-Code ist richtig, wird nur augenscheinlich nicht korrekt interpretiert. Kannst du mir einen Link zur betroffenen Seite nennen und sagen auf welchem Gerät / Browser das Icon nicht angezeigt wird?

            Hallo Marc,

            vielen Dank für deine Antwort,
            es hat sich erledigt,
            es lag am childtheme.
            Ich hatte noch die Version mit dem @url und nicht die mit der function.php etc.
            Nachdem ich das geändert habe, läuft es überall.

            Beste Grüße,

          Moka Description Title/Umbruch in der Seitenbeschreibung

          Ahoi,

          ich arbeite gerade mit dem wunderschöenen Moka-Template und möchte in der Seitenbeschreibung eine Adresse eingeben. Damit diese vernünftig umbrochen wird müßte ich einen Umbruch einfügen, was ja nicht ohne weiteres geht. Hier im Forum habe ich eine Anleitung gefunden:

          Ich habe jetzt im Titel br tags eingefügt und diese per CSS wieder auskommentiert:

          #site-title h2.site-description br {
          display: none;
          }

          Leider funktioniert das aber nicht, die br tags verschwinden nicht. Was könnte ich falsch gemacht haben?

          Vielen Dank,
          Jules

            Hallo Jules,

            leider werden HTML-Tags in der Seitenbeschreibung als Text dargestellt. Sie sind dann keine Tags mehr, die mit CSS angesprochen werden könnten. Ich empfehle dir für diese Anpassung eine Änderung in der header.php des Themes. Diese solltest du aber nicht in den Original-Dateien einfügen sondern mit Hilfe eines Child-Themes umsetzen. Ein vorbereiteter Child-Theme-Ordner ist in der Dokumentation verlinkt.

            Mit einer Kopie der header.php im Child-Theme-Ordner (nach dessen Installation und Aktivierung) kannst du die Änderungen vornehmen ohne sie bei einem Theme-Update wieder zu verlieren.

            In der header.php kannst du deinen Wunschtext z.B. direkt im Bereich der Seitenbeschreibung eintragen.

            Viele Grüße
            Marc

            [Moka: bug] Fixed sidebar overlapping content; omission in footer.php

            Hello!

            Minor bug report:

            • OS X 10.11.3
            • FF 43
            • Chrome 48
            • 24″ display (1920×1080)

            Selecting ‘fixed’ sidebar position results in content overlap. Behavior is present in demo: http://themes.elmastudio.de/moka. Scroll down to the ‘Filter by Category’ section to replicate the behavior. The leftmost category items can only be interacted with on their far right corners. Inspecting shows that #sidebar-wrap is overlapping the content, which results in the aforementioned behavior.

            I fixed with:

            #sidebar-wrap {
            z-index: 1;
            }

            #main-wrap {
            position; relative;
            z-index: 2;
            }

            But could have also modified the width of #sidebar-wrap (it’s 5% too wide at my resolution):

            #sidebar-wrap {
            width: 15.83%;
            }

            Edit: also, you’re missing a right > on line 25 of footer.php (for the ‘credit’ ul class).

            Cheers!

              MOKA – Änderung der Größe des Textes im Slider

              Hallo liebes Elma-Team,

              ist es möglich, im MOKA Theme das Textfeld im Responsive Slider zu verkleinern? Gibt es hier mögliche Nachteile, welche durch den Eingriff in den Code des Plugins entstehen könnten? Habt ihr damit Erfahrung?

              Falls ihr mir trotz dieser individuellen Anpassung weiterhelfen könntet, wäre ich sehr dankbar!

              Liebe Grüße,

              Maro

                Hallo Maro,

                wenn ich dich richtig verstehe, sprichst du nicht vom in Moka integrierten Slider sondern vom Plugin “Responsive Slider”. Solche Anpassungen sollten problemlos mit Hilfe von CSS-Code umzusetzen sein. Damit würdest du nicht in den Code des Plugins direkt eingreifen und bei gezielter Anwendung entstehen dir keine Nachteile.

                Leider können wir hier für nicht-unterstützte Plugins keinen Support leisten.

                Viele Grüße
                Marc

                  Hallo @marcomarzillier,

                  dies lässt sich einfach mit Hilfe von folgendem ergänzendem CSS-Code umsetzen:

                  #search-btn {
                  	display: none;
                  }

                  Dadurch werden keine Code-Änderungen am Theme notwendig.

                  Viele Grüße

                    Hi there,
                    I think there just might be missing an empty line between the new shortcodes. Please check the shortcodes in the text editor and make sure that there is an empty line between the 2 shortcodes. Please let me know, if this doesn’t help solve the issue.

                    Hi @webzunder,

                    that is an interesting problem. Unfortunately I’m not able to reproduce this behavior. The category is only missing on your front page, other appearances and functionalities seem to be fine. In case you didn’t change any theme files please deactivate your plugins and check again if the category is still missing.

                    Please create another post with a new category, make it sticky and check if the category is still missing on the front page.

                    Best,

                    for the Front page, the latest posts should all have thumbnail images. Is only the post without thumbnail not showing up all all latest posts? (Do you mean the 3-column latest posts?

                      He Ellen,
                      yes the page type is “frontpage sticky”. Nothing else – especially it is not the short code 3 column function. The frontpage is standard. We didn’t add anything into the content section. Not sure anymore about whether it didn’t show anything or only starting at the entry with missing thumbnail.

                    .entry-date {display: none !important;}

                    Du müsstest also wahrscheinlich nur entry-details weglassen.

                  Hello Elmastudio I’m running Moka on my blog…

                  Hello Elmastudio,

                  I’m running Moka on my blog http://amyhe.net/blog/ and the blog layout isn’t centered on the desktop version. The sidebar is close to the left of the window, but there’s a huge gap to the right of the blog content. Also the gap between the sidebar and the content is big compared to the sidebar and the edge of the window. On the full width pages http://themes.elmastudio.de/moka/ everything is evenly centered and spaced. How can I center the content of the blog layout to mimic the full width layout (even white space to the left and right of the sidebar+entry)? Also how can I make the sidebar narrower so that it’s closer to the entry?

                  Thank you,

                  Amy

                    Hi Amy,

                    please understand that we cannot provide help for individual customizations in the forum. The following additional CSS code should widen your blog posts to the same width as full width pages:

                    @media screen and (min-width: 1270px) {
                    		.post .entry-header,

                    	.post .entry-footer,
                    	.site-content .page,
                    	#comments,
                    	#nav-below,
                    	#nav-single,
                    	#nav-image,
                    	#nav-comments,
                    	.wp-pagenavi,
                    	.archive-header,
                    	.search-results .site-content .page,
                    	.entry-thumbnail,
                    	#disqus_thread {

                    ich habe folgendes Problem mit dem Moka-Theme:

                    Ich habe  jeweils im Footer Widgetbereich 1 und 2 ein individuelles Menü eingefügt mit jeweils 1 Menüpunkt ohne Überschrift. 1x Impressum, 1x Datenschutz.

                    Bei großer Bildschirmgröße ist das Impressum nicht aufrufbar. Teste ich im Firefox unter Entwicklerwerkzeuge die einzelnen Bildschirmgrößen, so ist bei allen angegeben Formaten das Impressum aufrufbar, nur nicht unter der größten Größe von 1920 x 900.

                    Habe das Menü nochmal komplett neu angelegt, aber dieser Fehler bleibt…

                    Hier zu sehen unter:

                    http://test.eft-kurse.de/

                    Vielen Dank im voraus für die Hilfe

                    Olaf

                      Hallo Olaf,

                      bitte probiere einmal folgenden ergänzenden CSS-Code aus:

                      @media screen and (min-width: 1435px) {
                      #sidebar-wrap {
                      width: 300px;
                      }
                      }

                      Viele Grüße
                      Marc

                      Portfolio-Beiträge in Moka

                      Hallo, ich baue gerade sehr lustvoll mit Moka und verzweifle aber, wie ich auf der Homepage JetPack-Portfolio-Beiträge darstellen kann.

                      Moka Slider of front page slider doesn’t appear on my website

                      Hi,

                      I followed all the steps to make ready a front page slider but the slider doesn’t appear and I don’t see the reason.
                      My website : http://www.jeremy-fiori.com/portrait

                      1. I created a blank page with the attribut Front Page Slider
                      2. I created 3 posts with the “featured” tag and a featured post thumbnail with the dimension 1070 x 600 px as requested.
                      3. I installed JetPack and put “featured” in the featured content’s field. (I also turn off the Photon option)

                      Is anything I missed?
                      Thanks for your help.

                      Jeremy

                        Hi Jeremy,

                        it seems that there are some incompatibilities between the JavaScript codes of your plugins. Please try to deactivate all your plugins (leave the JetPack plugin activated) and check if the slider works. You can activate the plugins one by one again and check which plugin is causing the problems.

                        Best,
                        Marc

                          Hi Mark,

                          Thanks a lot for your feedback. You’re right, the issue is from a javascript code.
                          I add to another slideshow on a page but it’s incompatible.

                          Thank’s again.
                          Jeremy

                      Mika theme problem

                      Hello there,

                      I’m sorry, my website is suzanne@suzannemurphy.co.uk and my theme is Moka

                      I have made a mistake and not sure how to go back and fix it. Every time I click on my slider it goes to the About page and I don’t want this to happen. Im not sure how I did this. Please help. I was trying to link just one of the slider feature images to my about page, not all of them. :-)

                      Best wishes

                      Suzanne

                        Hi Suzanne,

                        the slider in Moka can only be used for posts , I’m not 100% sure, how you created the link to the about page? Did you customize anything?

                        Best, Ellen

                        I didn’t mean to customise it. I think was just trying things out and made a mess. I have no idea what Im doing with code. Do you think that its best to delete the slider and then create it again?

                          Its ok! I have figured it out. I customised the permalink for every post without realising it. Thanks for your time.

                        Hi I installed wpml and I am very impressed how easy it works with your themes. I had so much trouble with some themes from other companies. I would like to have a switcher similar to yours on the moka page (http://www.elmastudio.de/, I know that is a customization you made) but thought you may provide me with the location you put it in … I’ve put it in the header.php in its own

                        and it works but its either part of the nav bar or its floating around … so before going mad I thought I ask you if you would post your a) location in the header.php and b) may be the css … I am going to change it a bit, but it would be a good starting point.

                        Of course, I totally understand if you don’t do that.

                        All the best,
                        Jo

                          Hi,

                          you can check out the source code of the Elmastudio website by right clicking on it and choosing (browser specific) something like “View Page Source”. You can find a DIV with the class “translate-wrap” below the sidebar DIV which can be copied into your header.php.

                          With the inspector tool of your browser you can browse through the used CSS. Just right click on the buttons and choose “Element information” or “inspect element”.

                          Best,
                          Marc

                            Hi Marc,
                            thank you for your answer – I have done that before asking you guys for your help of course ( I am not that lazy ;-)). but if I put the div code in the header.php it’s not in the right place I have put it under nav bar but then it becomes part of the nav bar, or I put it beneath than it becomes part of the header. but thank you I know that is beyond Support, I will just do a bit more try and error :-)

                            All the best,
