      Changing image sizes

      Hello,

      I’m wondering if there’s a way (or code used in my child stlye css) to change the size of the featured images and header image…the ones on the front page slider, as well as on the posts.

      I like the full width option, just wish the height was smaller. How?

      Thanks.

          Hi Marc,
          I’m using Uku theme

            Hi @laurawoodward,

            you can use a child theme and change the custom image sizes added by Uku. A prepared child theme folder is linked in the Uku documentation. The child theme contains a functions.php and you’d need to add code like the following in order to replace the image sizes:

            add_action('init', 'replace_image_sizes');

            function replace_image_sizes() {
            	remove_image_size( 'uku-standard-blog' );
            	add_image_size( 'uku-standard-blog', 1234, 567, true  );
            }

            You can find the defined image sizes within Uku’s functions.php file. After adding the code, please install and run the “Regenerate Thumbnails” plugin, in order to recalculate your existing images into the new image dimensions.

            Best,
            Marc

        Centering header image on all screen sizes, zuki theme

        Hello Elmastudio,

        Our team was after help centering our header image. When we look at our site in the iphone view the header image is off the center, looks small and is sitting on the left side. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are expecting to launch soon.

        Thank you.

          Hi @nua_,

          this is the default behavior of Zuki. Please understand that we cannot provide help for individual customizations in the forum. A start for changing the layout to center the logo in the mobile view can be the following additional CSS code:

          #site-title {
          width: 100%;
          padding: 12px 40px 20px;
          }

          Best,
          Marc

          Baylys and media library size

          Hi
          I’m running my site on Baylys, and as it’s an image heavy site the size of it tends to go up quite a bit.

          Wondering if I could ask you for a code snippet for my child theme functions.php that would prevent Baylys from adding an image size for the header (1400×550), as that alone would save me quite a bit of space.

          All the best, Thorir

            Previously—with other themes—I have used variations of the following to achieve this:

            function sgr_filter_image_sizes( $sizes) {

                unset( $sizes['medium']);
                unset( $sizes['large-feature']);

                return $sizes;
            }
            add_filter('intermediate_image_sizes_advanced', 'sgr_filter_image_sizes');

            Haven’t been able to make this work with Baylys.

              Hi Thorir,

              you can use the remove_image_size() function to prevent Baylys from creating an header image sized image file. Please keep in mind, that these images can potentially be used as individual header images on single post pages (if the featured image is big enough, it’ll be displayed as header image).

              Best,
              Marc

            Hallo zusammen, neustens kann das Header-Image (empfohlen: 1102 × 350, ich hatte 1102 × 139px drin seit jeher) nicht mehr gewechselt werden. Nach dem “speichern und publizieren” kommt einfach wieder der Standart-Header von elmastudio.

            Zudem werden praktisch alle Anpassungen, die man mit “customize” machen kann, einfach ignoriert. In meinen Augen funtioniert Yoko noch nicht mit der neusten WordPress-Version 4.2.3

            Hi,
            A few questions regarding the Baylys theme:
            1. how can I remove the header image?
            2. I installed it on http://www.cfodesk.co.il/ – where have all the bullets and numbering in my text went? it used to display it just fine before I installed the theme..
            3. The menu is LTR, how can that be changed?
            4. On mobile, there’s a grey background around the text, why is that?
            5. The search icon overrides the text inside the searchbox
            6. Is there a way to add the tagline?
            7. Shouldn’t the headline and the menu be the opposite for RTL ?
            8. Why is the featured image on the left and not on the right?

            Thanks a lot,

            Eran

                I had the same problem a few days ago. You must first select the image in the gallery on the left side of the Customizer. Then click on “Vorgeschlagen/Proposed” button. Then “Bild ausblenden/hide image” button. Then it disappears from the header…

              Hi,

              lets start with the following additional CSS code:

              input#searchsubmit {
              	right: auto;
              	left: 1px;
              }
              @media screen and (min-width: 1180px) {
              	#site-nav ul li li:last-child {
              		padding:0 50px 0 0;
              	}
              	#site-nav li li a {
              		text-align:right;
              	}
              }

              Furthermore I’ll forward this issue to be considered in a future update.

              Best,

                Hello Marc,

                Thanks a lot, can you please confirm that the following items remain unresolved?
                2. Bullets and numbering are not shown
                4. On mobile, there’s a grey background around the text
                7. Title and the menu should be opposite
                8. Featured image should be on the right, not on the left

                Items 2 and 4 are very critical !!

                Thanks,

                Eran

                  Hello Eran,

                  please try this code to fix issue #2:

                  @media screen and (min-width: 1180px) {
                      .sidebar-content #content .post {
                          padding: 50px 7.14286%;
                      }
                  }

                  You don’t need to add the media query twice, you can combine this code with the code above.

                  Unfortunately I’m not able to reproduce issue #4, can you provide a screenshot of this behavior? On which device do you see the different background-color?

                  Best,
                  Marc

                Hi,

                please try this code to add space between the two menu items on the left:

                @media screen and (min-width: 1180px) {
                #site-nav ul li:last-child {
                	padding:0 50px 0 0;
                }
                }

                This one should align the image to the right:

                .about-image-wrap {
                padding: 0 0 20px 0;
                }

                The code to remove the grey background is actually working, please try to visit the site again refreshing the page to get the latest version of code.

                Best,
                Marc

                  Hi Marc,
                  Thanks a lot. You were right about the grey background, I didn’t know I have to clear the cache on mobile.
                  Regarding the bullets and numbering – they are not shown on tablet, is there a way to make them be aligned with text and that way they will always be shown? It looks like when it’s “outside” the text, it’s not always shown.

                  Also, how can the sub-menus be aligned to the right?

                  Thanks again,

                    Hi Eran,

                    this should switch the padding within the menu to RTL, it may overwrite some earlier fixes.

                    @media screen and (min-width: 1180px) {
                    	#site-nav ul li {
                    		padding:0 0 0 50px !important;
                    	}
                    }

                Hi,

                unfortunately Zuki is not designed to use a whole-page-header-image. The following CSS spans the header image across the actual content:

                @media screen and (min-width: 1260px) {
                    #site-title {
                        width: 100%;
                    }
                }

                Maybe this is getting near your idea.

                To add custom CSS follow the steps in this article: http://www.elmastudio.de/en/wordpress-en/custom-css-wordpress/

                Please understand that we can not provide help for theme customizations in the forum. To actually create a full-width-header, you’d need to adjust the theme files or at least add much more CSS.

                Best,
                Marc

                  #site-title {width: 100% !important;}
                  }

                  To my wordpress.com jetpack css editor but my 1260 header continue to be resized on the left.

                Hi there,

                first of all thanks Elmastudio for the beautiful Pohutukawa Theme which I have bought, installed and configured yesterday evening. :)
                I was able so handle some of my questions and modification wishes by searching the web and this forum but I haven’t found an answer to these questions/issues:

                1. Responsive Design: As documented, I’ve created all header images in 1400×440 but I’ve notices that as soone as it get’s so small that the MENU Button appears, there is an white area above the header image as you can see here: http://grab.by/zijY – Is this a known issue and will be fixed or am I doing something wrong?

                2. Header Image clickable: Is there a way to make the header image clickable, so its always a link to the Homepage?

                3. Jetpack -Sharing Buttons: I’m using the sharing buttons function (Jetpack -> Sharing) that comes with the Jetpack but there is a strange behavior in addition with the Pohutukawa theme:
                If the jetpack setting are set to orininal buttons http://grab.by/ziQ6 –> It looks ok http://grab.by/ziQg
                But I don’t lile the look so I would like to use the setting “Icon & Text” http://grab.by/ziQm –> But then the buttons are shown as a UL http://grab.by/ziQu
                How can I use the “Icon & Text” setting showing the buttons in one row?

                4. I don’t get any “Read more” buttons at all – I’m using the “Advanced Excerpt” Plugin. What can I do do get the nice Read More Buttons?

                Info: I’m talking about http://www.domlen.de :)

                Thanks in advanced and greetings from Munich,

                Dominik / domlen

                  Hi Dominik,
                  I’m happy that you like the Pohutukawa theme :) regarding your questions:

                  1.) Actually the white space should include the blog title. Do you use a title for your blog?
                  2.) Not by default, you would have to change/customize a template file (header.php) for this and include a link to the home page there directly.
                  3.) I would have to check the buttons code again and support the CSS for the buttons. I will set up an update during the next couple of days for this.
                  4.) If you use the WordPress “more-link” you should get the Read more like in the Pohutukawa live demo. Did you try this already?

                  Best, Ellen

                  Hi Ellen,

                  thanks for the fast response, sorry for the late reply! ;)

                  according 1.) No, I haven’t yet because its hard to find the right header pictures, where the title matches all the time. As a workaround I’ve set the title now (so its visible in the Tab e.g.) and set a small image as an own logo. Maybe I’ll create a proper logo. But there is no simple way to get around this white space when using no logo or not wanting to show the title there?

                  ich möchte den Bereich für das Header Image etwas kleiner gestalten, so dass er vertikal nicht so viel Platz braucht,

                  Wo kann ich das denn einstellen?

                    Hello, please help! I loved having the ability to randomize multiple header images on my site. Had 5 different images. But when I when I tried to add a sixth today the option to randomize the images simply disappeared and now I can only select one. I really liked this feature. I have a screen grab of the header menu without the option, but no way to post it here. I appreciate all help with this issue!

                      I would like to have different header images on different pages, I am using YOKO Theme, but not as random images, I would like to have a certain header image for a certain page. What is the most simplest way to get this done?

                        try this little plugin:

                        http://wordpress.org/plugins/unique-headers/

                        then you have on each page or post beneath the featured image an custom header – but it is advisable to put in Images of same format as the standard Header Image.

                        this plugin allows even to set different header Images on Categories

                        Set the image that you want on your blog page as you would normally set a header in the theme options. That will be your default header image. Then, for all the other pages, the header is the featured image for each of the pages. Wherever you didn’t set a featured image, the default header will show. Where you set a featured image for the page, that header will show.

                        I have exactly the same question. There are plugins available (dynamic heades, custom header imges…) but both are rather old and dont work with yoko.

                        It would be great if anyone knows a solution. Maby the guys from Elmastudio?

                        Thanks

                        Hi,

                        I have a bit of a problem with setting up the headers in Baylys. I would like to use the slider on the FP and for the blogposts I would like to use a header image related to the post. I don’t seem to be able to make it work somehow.

                        The slider works on the FP http://pakovska.com
                        But then the header image on top doesn’t work here at all: http://pakovska.com/last-bits-and-pieces-of-the-new-collection/

                        It worked when I uploaded the posts first, but when I activated the slider it stopped working. Maybe it was a theme confusion between the old theme and the new one?

                        Do you know if it’s possible to do this?

                        Thank you for your answer.

                        Gr.

                          @marta: Hi, you need to set a header image for your website to show header images on single pages too (the featured images of the posts will be used if big enough). Of course you don’t want a header image and the slider on your front page, so we can tweak the code a little to hide the header image in that case.

                          At first please set up a child theme, so we can modify the theme files without touching the original theme files and losing our changes in case of an update.

                          Please copy the header.php in your theme folder into the child theme folder. Now replace the following lines in the header.php file in your child theme directory

                          					<div class="header-image">
                          						<img src="<?php header_image(); ?>" width="<?php echo $header_image_width; ?>" height="<?php echo $header_image_height; ?>" alt="" />
                          					</div><!-- end .header-image -->

                          with the following code

                          <?php
                          $options = get_option('baylys_theme_options');
                          if( !$options['use-slider'] ) :
                          ?>

                          					<div class="header-image">
                          						<img src="<?php header_image(); ?>" width="<?php echo $header_image_width; ?>" height="<?php echo $header_image_height; ?>" alt="" />
                          					</div><!-- end .header-image -->

                          <?php endif; ?>

                          After checking whether a header image is set, the changed code will check if you are using the slider. In that case the header image will not be shown.

                          I hope this works for you.

                          Regards
                          Marc

                            Thank you Marc for the instruction, unfortunately no easy CSS option. ;) I will dig into the information about setting up a child theme. It’s on my to-do list anyway.

                          Bild in den Headbereich statt Blogtitel und Slogan beim Theme –> Tatami

                          Ich möchte statt dem Blogtitel und dem Slogan ein Bild einfügen.
                          Ist dies möglich? Wenn ja, wie kann ich das einstellen?

                            Hi Niklas,

                            in der style.css dem Codeblock (bei mir ist es die Zeile 3465)

                            #site-header {
                            display:block;
                            background:#fff;
                            overflow:hidden;
                            margin-bottom:30px;
                            padding:60px 0;
                            }

                            folgendes hinzufügen:

                            background-image: url(images/XYZ.jpg);
                            background-repeat: no-repeat;

                            Blogtitel und Untertitel unter “Einstellungen – Allgemein” natürlich leer lassen, falls dies nicht gebraucht wird.

                            Hoffe das hilft.

                            LG

                            @ncashb: Wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, möchtest du ein Logobild im Header, das kannst du einfach über die Theme-Optionen einfügen. Es sollte allerdings nicht höher als 75px sein, damit es auch auf mobilen Geräten funktioniert.

                            Grüße, Ellen

                              I want to do this as well. I think, have not tried this yet but I’m going to … we’d have to change the sizes in functions.php Look for this block of code

                              // The height and width of your custom header. You can hook into the theme’s own filters to change these values.
                              // Add a filter to yoko_header_image_width and yoko_header_image_height to change these values.
                              define( ‘HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH’, apply_filters( ‘yoko_header_image_width’, 1102 ) );
                              define( ‘HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT’, apply_filters( ‘yoko_header_image_height’, 350 ) );

                              I would like to use an image header in the Oita theme. The problem I am having is that I can’t get it to center in larger screen sizes without making it look huge. I don’t want a simple icon image. I want a full-width header image. This is what I had in mind, but it looks too big on most larger screens and on the largest screen sizes it becomes off-center. If I make it smaller, it becomes too small on small-screen devices.

                              Ellen, can you give me some advice? Or is there a way to change the theme so that it automatically centers header images? Thanks in advance!

                                Renkon Theme questions

                                Hello,

                                A few questions about the Renkon theme.

                                My comments are not displayed under the single posts. Probably because the are imported with the plugin ‘Live Flickr comment Importer’. I deactivated the plugin but that did not help.
                                When I comment on a post on my WordPress website it works fine, the comment is displayed.
                                How can I show the comments?

                                When I submit a post with the format ‘standard’ it is called an article. Then the ‘read more’ link will have the color (turquoise) I have chosen at the template options. But I can’t change the hover link color, that one is red.
                                Where can I change this hover link color?

                                Is it possible to start the second blog page (and further) under the header image? So, you don’t need to scroll down.

                                Thanks,
                                Arjan

                                  @Emmel: I never used this Plugin, could you send me a link to your blog, so I can have a look at the code? It could be possible that some additional CSS code is needed.

                                  The link color for the more-link is still the default color, this is a bug in the theme and I will fix this in the first theme update this week. Until then you could add the following code to the file : inc / theme-options.php in line 417 and add a comma before:

                                  .entry-content a.more-link:hover

                                  You can find the navigation code in the index.php file and you could try to change the code and paste it before the site-content div. But I haven’t tried that out myself so you would maybe need to add some more CSS to that.

                                  Best, Ellen

                                  Hallo Ellen,

                                  in der header.php vom Baylys-Theme wird definiert wo ein Header Image ausgegeben wird. Ich möchte nun gerne auch auf der Blog Index Page ein individuelles Header Image anzeigen. Leider spreche ich kein PHP und habe mit Teilerfolg die Anweisung zu in der header.php erweitert. Jetzt wird auf der Blog Index Page das in den Theme Optionen definierte Standard Header Image angezeigt. Wie muss ich die header.php modifizieren, damit ich ein individuelles Header Image auf der Blog Index Page angezeigt bekomme?

                                  Danke und Liebe Grüße
