      Hawea: Changing the font

      Hello, I have been trying to modify the font of the Hawea theme using the Easy Google Fonts plugin. However, it does not change the top menu fonts nor the footer credits… I don’t know what to do.

      I have been trying to modify the css but still does not work. I have looked through many tutorials of how to do it…

      Could you tell me a specific line that I should modify? I have also tried to input the API key in advanced settings of the plugin, but no luck either.

      My website: http://www.peoplesplants.net

        Hi,

        since these plugins aren’t explicit enough to address the different elements in the theme, you should use them only to provide additional fonts and set these with additional CSS code.

        Most browsers provide a tool to inspect the used CSS code of elements. Simply right click on an element and select “Inspect Element”, “Element Information” or else and the tool will open. It shows the used CSS and how to address the elements in custom code.

        It seems that you’ve already achieved these changes.

        Best,
        Marc

      Hi I’m using a Google Font called Rubik…

      Hi,

      I’m using a Google Font called Rubik. Somehow when I change the font weight to 700 or 900 either in the Theme Customizer or in my custom CSS file, the font appears as Regular in the browser. What should I do to make sure the correct font weight is applied?

        Hi there,
        could you let me know, which theme you are using? Also it would be great, if you include a link to your website.
        Thanks so much!
        Best, Ellen

          Hi there,
          so sorry for the late reply. I checked your website, but it is set to bold that is true. Since it’s a custom font, I’m not 100% sure. One suggestion: maybe you can check, if the bold style of the font is installed or if the font even has a bold style (but I’m pretty sure it has).
          Unfortunately since it is not the default theme style, I can’t help further. I hope you can find a solution.
          Best, Ellen

        How can I safely stop all the Google fonts from loading in Neubau without breaking the theme? (And without using a plugin.)

        I’ll be using some other web fonts in a child theme. If I keep the Google fonts, too, the font load will be out of sight.

        Just want to make sure to do it right. I’m not very good with functions.php.

        Ellen, Marc, anyone… anyone…?
        Thanks. :)

          Perhaps, paste this into the child theme functions.php? Would this be correct?

          function neubau_dequeue_fonts() {
          wp_dequeue_style( ‘neubau-fonts’ );
          }

          add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘neubau_dequeue_google_fonts’, 20 );

            Hi @bonnie,

            the following code should be correct:

            function neubau_dequeue_fonts() {
            	wp_dequeue_style( 'neubau-fonts' );
            }
            add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'neubau_dequeue_fonts', 20 );

            Best,
            Marc

          Dorayaki ohne Google Fonts

          Hallo Ellen, hallo Manuel, hallo Welt ;)

          Ich habe das Theme Dorayaki in einer WP-Instanz im Einsatz, bei der gewünscht ist, dass das Theme nicht “nach Hause”, in dem Fall Richtung Google, telefoniert. Ich habe versucht, die Stelle zu finden, die ich auskommentieren kann, um das zu realisieren. Leider blieb es bei dem Versuch – ich wäre für einen Tipp sehr dankbar.

          Liebe Grüße,
          Sven

            Hallo Sven,

            in der functions.php findest du den Code um die Schriftarten zu laden. Ich empfehle dir auf jeden Fall die Nutzung eines Child-Themes um die Funktion zu deaktivieren, damit du im Falle eines Theme-Updates deine Änderungen nicht verlierst.

            Mit dieser Funktion kannst du in der functions.php des Child-Themes die Font-Funktion “abschalten”: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_dequeue_style

            Viele Grüße
            Marc

          Waipoua: Mixed content

          Hallo Elmastudio

          Ich habe meinen Blog auf https umgestellt. Nun erhalte ich untenstehende Warnung wegen eines “insecure stylesheets”. Kann man hier auch einfach auf https ändern (und wenn ja, wo)?

          Vielen Dank, MISC

          Mixed Content: The page at ‘*’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure stylesheet ‘http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans%3A400%2C700%2C400italic%7COswald&ver=4.4.2’. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

            Hallo,
            ich werde gleich morgen ein kl. Update für Waipoua vorbereiten, um den Fehler zu beheben. Ich melde mich noch einmal hier, sobald das Update zur Verfügung steht.
            Grüße, Ellen

            Habs jetzt selbst gefunden: in functions.php bei “Include Google Webfonts” ein “s” einfügen, und es funktioniert.

              Achtung:
              Wenn du ein Update vom Template machst, wird womöglich die functions.php überschrieben.

              Behalte das im Sinn!
