      Zuki – Front page, full width content

      Hi,

      I purchased Zuki, and I super love it. However, I wanted this to work on Full Width Content on my home page. Anyone can help me?

        Hi,

        unfortunately this widget only behaves as seen in your screenshot when being used within an Post Content widget area. You’d need to adjust the used CSS code in order to style this widget in another way while being used within a FullWidth widget area. Please understand, that we cannot provide help for individual customizations in the forum.

        Most browsers provide a tool to inspect the used CSS code of elements. Simply right click on an element and select “Inspect Element”, “Element Information” or else and the tool will open. It shows the used CSS and how to address the elements in custom code.

        Best,
        Marc

        ZUKI: replicate front page layout in other category-pages

        Hi!

        I am working on ZUKI; and my coding ability is next to… zero. :)

        I have arranged the sidebar menu in a way that each menu item points to a category (as opposed to a page). So, when someone clicks on a sidebar menu item named after e.g. “news” then this action takes him/her to a category-page that contains posts published under the “news” category.

        In the aforementioned category-page named after “news” the posts appear as full width, in chronological order, one after the other, until the bottom of the page.

        I would like to change this post-after-post layout to the “front page” layout, where I can have a grid of 4, 8 or 12 posts neatly arranged in boxes under a given category.

        Is this possible?

        Many thanks!

        Christos

          Hi Christos,

          with additional CSS code you can style your archive pages to display the posts in columns.

          The following code can be a start:

          .archive .site-content .post {
          	width: 29%;
          	float: left;
          	margin-right: 6.5%;
          	clear: none;
          }
          .archive .site-content .post:nth-child(3n+1) {
              margin-right: 0;
          }

          Best,
          Marc

            Removing items from the blog front page (UKU)

            How do I remove some of the items from the blog front page?

            At the moment it has the kitchen sink i.e top stories, weekly highlights etc.

              Hi @webdesigness,

              in your dashboard at Appearance -> Customize -> Front Page Settings you can remove sections by changing their category and tag to “- Select -” and the default blog section can be deactivated in General by checking “Hide default blog on Front page”.

              Zuki: Front Page showing up everywhere + Featured Images setting

              Hello,
              I have two issues that are keeping me from enjoying this beautiful theme at https://realkoreans.com/. Perhaps somebody can help me here :)

              (1) The “Front” keeps on showing up in my “Recent Post” (Blog and Footer: “TOP POSTS & PAGES”) and “Pages” lists (Footer: “PAGES”). Where can I disable this? I’ve followed the instructions given on the Live Demo page, and it doesn’t seem to show up on other people’s blogs using Zuki.

              (2) No pictures show up on my posts unless I set a “Featured Image” for each one of them manually. In other themes it is the first image that is automatically selected – am I doing something wrong?

              Again, thank you so much for this theme, I absolutely love it. Hope you are having a lovely week!

                Hi,

                1.) I don’t know – maybe someone else can help you here.

                2.) Normally, as far, as I know it, it should be like this: You set a featured Image, you get a featured Image.
                This is the normal behavior and that’s good.
                Imagine, if the Theme would do that and the first picture would be a smiley? Then the featured Image would be a Smiley?! Sure, you could change everything and set another picture before the smiley, but why would you want to lose the control?

                So, short answer: You are not doing it wrong ;-)

                Thanks!

                Hi @bombfrompluto,

                1) I guess you’re using the top posts widgets provided by the JetPack plugin. As far as I know it’s currently not possible to exclude pages from these widgets, but a web search for something like “jetpack top posts exclude pages” may provide a suitable workaround for you.

                2) As @fmalik pointed out already, the theme doesn’t provide such a function, but there are plugins available which can automatically provide featured images based on the content or further settings.

                Best,
                Marc

                  Hi @Marc and @fmalik, thank you for your reply.

                  1) Okay, then how does the Live Demo not have the “Front” showing up? Was it made using a different plugin? I’ve taken a look at other blogs made using Zuki (http://showcase.elmastudio.de/category/zuki/), and none of them seem to have the same problem.
                  I am on WordPress.com, not .org, so I don’t have Jetpack installed to my knowledge.

                  2) If the image size is smaller than the one suggested by Elma, is there a way to get the picture center-aligned?

                  Thank for your help. I really appreciate it.

                    Hi @bombfrompluto,

                    1) the theme demo doesn’t use the JetPack widget, but the recent post widgets Zuki provides.

                    2) The following additional CSS code would center your featured image, but the container is wider than the following content container, so it might seem a little bit off:

                    img.wp-post-image {
                        display: block;
                        margin: auto;
                    }

                    To resize the image container as well, the following code should work:

                    @media screen and (min-width: 767px) {
                    	.entry-thumbnail {
                    		max-width: 680px;
                    		padding-left: 40px;
                    	}
                    }

                    Best,
                    Marc

                Reduce margin on top of home page content?

                Hi, I’ve use the Dorayaki theme to make a site, and everything works fine, the only problem is that there is a big gap between the menu and the beginning of the content on the home page. How can I reduce the margin so the beginning of the page content will actually appear a little bit when the site is opened? Here is the link to see what I mean: http://www.nathaliesejean.com Thanks in advance!

                  Hi @gizlie,

                  it seems that you’ve activated the header slider without the needed slider plugin (or without any slides). The empty slider takes a little space, which should be removed after deactivating the slider in your theme options.

                  How to hide the number of comments from the Zuki static home page?

                  Hi! I am using Zuki on my blog – http://saswat.com and I wanted to know how to hide the “number of comments” that accompanies each post on the frontpage. Thanks so much!

                    Hey!

                    On your website it works with:

                    .front-content .entry-comments { display: none; }
                    .front-fullwidth .entry-comments { display: none; }
                    .widget widget_zuki_recentposts_big_two .entry-comments { display: none; }
                    .rp-big-one-content .entry-comments { display: none; }

                    If not ok, i can write you where you can find the dates in .php!

                    Greetings

                    ZUKI-Theme Startseiten-Anpassungen

                    Hallo zusammen,

                    ich nutze das ZUKI-Theme (derzeit noch auf localhost) und ein paar Probleme bei der Einrichtung der Startseite bekomme ich einfach nicht gelöst:

                    1. Wenn ich auf der Startseite Widgets anzeigen lassen möchte, die in  einer anderen Kategorie als “Allgemein” abgelegt sind, werden die Widgets leer angezeigt. Woran kann das liegen?
                    2. Die Filterfunktion, die ZUKI oben zur Verfügung stellt (“Filter Content”) enthält mehrere Spalten, darunter auch “Author”. Da es bei mir nur einen Autor und den Administrator gibt, möchte ich diese Spalte gerne entfernen. Ist das möglich?
                    3. Da ich nicht auf so vielen Social Media Portalen aktiv bin, sind meine Buttons diesbezüglich in der Sidebar begrenzt und nicht linksbündig. Wie bekomme ich die nach links?
                    4. Ich nutze die Schlagwort-Wolke von Jetpack, nur leider trennt es die Schlagworte an den unmöglichsten Stellen zugunsten von Blocksatz-Optik. Ist es möglich das zu ändern, sodass die Wörter nicht getrennt werden?
                    5. Und zum Schluss noch eine Sache, bei der es mich echt ärgert, dass ich sie nicht gelöst kriege: Ich hab’s mittlerweile geschafft, den Blog mehr oder weniger komplett auf Englisch darzustellen, alle möglichen verfügbaren Anleitungen umgesetzt, etc., und trotzdem bleibt meine Kommentarfunktion stur deutsch. Was hab ich übersehen?

                    So, das wär’s. Über Ratschläge wäre ich ausgesprochen dankbar!

                    Liebe Grüße

                    Theresa

                      Hallo Theresa,

                      1. prüfe bitte ob du die richtige Titelform eingetragen hast. Im Dashboard unter Beiträge (Posts) -> Kategorien (Categories) siehst du diese in der rechten Tabelle.

                      2. Dies kannst du am einfachsten mit Hilfe von CSS-Code anpassen. Folgender Code sollte ein guter Anfang für diese Anpassung sein:

                      .list-authors {
                      	display: none;
                      }
                      @media screen and (min-width: 1023px) {
                      	.list-months-cats-tags {
                      		width: 83%;
                      	}
                      }

                      3. Dies kann ich leider nicht nachvollziehen, sobald deine Seite online ist, kann ich mir das jedoch einmal anschauen und dir einen Tipp geben.

                      4. Die Umbrüche in der Schlagwortwolke sollten sich mit folgendem CSS-Code verhindern lassen:

                      .wp_widget_tag_cloud div,
                      .widget_tag_cloud div {
                      	-ms-word-break: keep-all;
                           word-break: keep-all;
                      }

                      5. Prüfe bitte einmal die Einstellung im Dashboard unter Einstellungen -> Allgemein -> Sprache der Website. Wenn du Front- und Backend in unterschiedlichen Sprachen verwenden möchtest, kannst du dazu z.B. ein Plugin verwenden, mit dem du die Sprachen getrennt einstellen kannst.

                      Viele Grüße
                      Marc

                      Ponsonby: Metaslider widget on “Front Page” template

                      Hi there,

                      I’m trying to insert a Metaslider slideshow in one of the widget-areas of the Ponsonby front page template – in the

                      '2columns-center-bigleft'

                      to be exact. Unfortunately, the slider won’t stretch over the two columns, but only spans one column.

                      I’m using WP 4.3.1, a Ponsonby Child theme and the Metaslider Pro Plugin.
                      I’ve selected the “Stretch to 100% Width” in the Metaslider advanced settings.

                      Could you give me a hint on how to fix this or how to develop a workaround?

                      Cheers

                          the first layout in figure 002 uses the “Zuki: Recent Posts (Big 1)” widget in the “Front Page – FullWidth Top” widget area.

                          If you are using Zuki on WordPress.com, please use the Zuki for WordPress.com support forum for further questions, since there are difference between Zuki for WordPress.com and Zuki for a self hosted WordPress installation.

                        Pohutukawa: Post Excerpts

                        Hello,

                        I’m doing some changes to my site and I decided to show my kayak expedition journal which consists of 112 posts, half of which are posts displaying expedition pictures. http://1000ktotokyo.michaelreid.global/

                        Initially, they were grouped by category and accessible via a link on the sidebar. When I used to click the sidebar, all the text posts would show their post excerpts; however, now that they are on the front page, they will no longer show the excerpts, only the full articles (some of which are absurdly long).

                        How can I show the post excerpts on the front page?

                        PS: I’m aware that I can manually add the

                        <!--more-->

                        to each post, but that’s a ton of posts that I have to once again go through.

                          Hi,

                          in this case an “auto excerpt plugin” can help. It’ll hook into the default content function which displays your complete posts and create an excerpt which will be displayed instead.

                          There should be several options in the public plugin directory.

                          Best,
                          Marc

                          Hello Ellen!

                          I really like your Suidobashi theme, but there is one thing I would like to change: is it possible to have some sort of a grid lay out on the front page (sort of like in your other theme, Onigiri) rather than all entries one under the other? I’m new to WordPress and don’t have a feeling yet for what is doable and what not :)

                            Hi,

                            unfortunately it would take quite a lot of work to merge both themes, but it’s totally doable. Maybe an alternative approach is more easy to implement. Here is a piece of example CSS code you can use to arrange the posts in two columns:

                            @media screen and (min-width: 767px) {
                                .jetpack-portfolio {
                                    width: 50%;
                                    padding: 20px;
                                    float: left;
                                }
                            }

                            Please be aware that this code is probably not sufficient, but gives you an idea of what is possible.

                            Please understand that we cannot provide help for theme customizations in the forum.

                              thank you for your reply! I’m going to ask someone who’s better with web design than I am myself to help me with it anyway, just wanted to know if it is possible at all, so thanks for giving me hope!:)

                            Hi Guiliano,

                            the white space on your page is actually the default white space in the Moka theme. If you wanted to change it with custom CSS, at which particular widget (maybe let me know the content on your page) did you want to make the changes?

                            Best, Ellen

                              Hi Ellen, thanks for your reply. I would like less space on the top of the footer and less space on the top of the 3 articles featured in the home page, soon after the slider.
                              Many thanks for your help

                            Ponsonby Frontpage and Changing Fonts for RTL Websites

                            Dear Elmastudio’s Team,

                            Let me start with the fact that I really dig Ponsonby, and at first I didn’t know it has RTL support (rtl.css), and I didn’t read the changelog. So, when I bought it I had thought about hiring a 3rd party developer, since I’m not the most tech savvy person I know. :P

                            Anyway, to my surprise, I found that magical rtl.css file, and man, you couldn’t tell how happy I was. Fast forward three days later – after I figured out how to link my host to domain and DNS provider; and translating some of your content to test the water (I haven’t created any content for my awesome magazine yet! ^^”) – when I put together my front page, and being really happy, only to be disappointed by the “glitch” in the front page. Everything else is perfect, just this minor glitch in the front page (and a few other things regarding the typography of the site I’m going to talk about later down the post).

                            So, to make things clear, I prepared some pictures to help you understand what I mean. Let’s get started, shall we?

                            (More …)

                              Hi Aram,

                              please check the rtl.css for the following code (around line 562) and remove it:

                              	.three-columns-wrap .widget-area,
                              		.footer-column,
                              		.two-columns-wrap .two-columns-small {
                              		 float: right;
                              	}

                              After the change please check your site and tell me if we’re coming near the correct layout.

                              To reset the letter-spacing you can use the following CSS code:

                              .widget_ponsonby_recentposts h3.widget-title, .two-columns-big .widget_ponsonby_quote h3.widget-title {
                              	letter-spacing: normal;
                              }

                              If I understand you correctly, you want to implement another font. Please ask the font provider for help on how to make the font available for your visitors. After that you can simply define the font with CSS code like this:

                              body {
                              	font-family: 'Your Font'', Alternative-Websafe-Font, sans-serif;
                              }

                              You can find all font definitions in the themes style.css.

                              Best,
                              Marc

                            Zuki no thumbnails on the front page

                            Hello,

                            Tonight I acquired and started to install the Zuki theme. I needed to stop as I do not see any thumbnails – just text on the front page. What could be the reason? I have a featured image 800 pixels set for every post.

                            My blog’s address: http://gburrek.pl/

                            Regards,

                            Karolina

                              Hi Karolina,

                              please install the plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails” after switching to Zuki and run it once (Dashboard -> Tools -> Regen. Thumbnails).

                              The plugin creates the different image formats used by Zuki for existing images. You shouldn’t have any problems with future posts.

                              Best,

                                Hallo,

                                da dies ein JetPack-Widget ist, stelle bitte die Frage einmal im JetPack-Support-Forum, z.B. hier: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
                                Dort kann dir mit Sicherheit besser geholfen werden. Es scheint von mehreren bereits ein ähnliches Feature gewünscht zu werden, ich drücke dir die Daumen, dass zeitnah eine simple Funktion zum Ausschließen von bestimmten Seiten implementiert wird.

                                Viele Grüße

                                eine weitere Frage: Bei der statischen Startseite stehen die beiden Teammitglieder zu eng zusammen, zu linksbündig. Ich dachte, solche Dinge passen sich bei einem responsive Theme von selbst an. Wie kann man das gleichmäßiger verteilen?
                                Hier eine Vorschau: http://narratool.com/

                                  Hallo,
                                  die “Boxes” für die Teammitglieder sind standardmäßig 33% der Gesamtbreite breit. Du müsstest also eigenes CSS einfügen (über die Theme-Optionenseite), um die Boxen zu erweitern:

                                  @media screen and (min-width: 1260px) {
                                  .widget_dorayaki_team_small {width: 48%;}
                                  }

                                    Hallo,

                                    du kannst dazu ein eigenes Menü anlegen. Im Dashboard unter Design -> Menüs kannst du ein neues Menü anlegen, welches du als Header-Menü verwenden möchtest. Als Standort für das Menü wähle dort bitte Haupt-Navigation bzw. im englischen Primary Navigation. Dein neues individuelles Menü kannst du so mit Seiten bestücken, wie du möchtest.

                                        Da zeigt ihr, dass ihr die statische Startseite “Frontpage” genannt habt. Im Header-Menü in der Vorschau steht aber keine “Frontpage”-Seite. Daher nochmal meine Frage: Wie baue ich genau so eine statische Startseite, ohne dass diese im Menü erscheint?

                                          Du musst deine Startseite einfach aus deiner Menüstruktur entfernen. Dann bleibt sie Startseite taucht aber nicht im Menü auf. Über Klicken auf dein Logo kommst du aber immer wieder zur Startseite zurück.

                                    Tags: front page, sticky recent posts

                                    Hi there
                                    I just bought the moka template and try to find my way around with it.
                                    I want to set up a sticky frontpage and I followed the tutorial. However, I cannot remove the inbuilt section of recent posts. In your tutorial, it says “Du kannst die Anzahl der neuesten Artikel unter Design → Anpassen → Startseiten-Optionen auf 0, 3, 9 oder 12 erweitern.” However, setting the option to ‘0’ does not seem to make any difference and the section does not disappear. Is there another way to get rid of this section?
                                    Thanks a lot!
                                    Best,

                                        Hi,

                                        did you already solve the problem? I’m not able to detect any. If you’re still having the issue, please try another computer / web browser first, to check if it may be a problem with your current computer / web browser.

                                        Best,
                                        Marc
