      Hi,

      I’ve managed to add the thumbnails to the archives and categories, but I can’t figure out how to do it to the search results. Any tips?

        @brettiamthelab: Hi, please tell me how you add thumbnails to archives and categories, maybe I have a hint for you.

        Aloha,

        How do I adjust the font size in the slider?

          @brettiamthelab: Hi, most browsers can inspect elements. Try clicking on an element (in your case the slider text) with the right mouse button and choose “Inspect Element”, “Element Information” or something like this.

          A tool should open which shows the currently used CSS to style those elements. You then should easily recognize which combination of classes and ids you could use to change the styling with CSS.

          Best,
          Marc

          Hi Ellen,

          I’m working on a new site and trying to change the size of the thumbnail in the Recent Post widget. I would like the thumbnail to fill the widget vs. being a small image. I would also like to limit the characters shown so that all of the recent post items are the same size. Where should I begin? Here is the test site: http://innerlab.iamthelab.com

            @brettiamthelab: Hi, the following CSS should deactivate the limitation of the thumbnail size:

            ul.dorayaki-rp li.rp-box a.rp-thumb {
            max-width: none;
            }

            Unfortunately I have no great solution to force the same size on your recent post items. There is no easy way to determine the length, because the words break differently and the used font is no monospace font. I think the only way is to set the excerpt manually (Screen Options -> Excerpt in your editor), but then the text would still break differently on the various display sizes and zoom steps.

            Best,
            Marc

              HI Marc,

              That worked quite well. I have one more question: what if I want to have the Recent Post Widget show a single post per line vs. two posts? So instead of 3 rows of 2, I would like full width versions with the same background and the Read More.

              Thanks!

                @brettiamthelab: Hi, the following CSS should do the trick:

                .rp-box {
                width: 100% !important;
                margin-right: 0px;
                }

                Best,
                Marc

                  Thanks Marc! One last question: How do I center the title text? I tried text-align: center, but it didn’t seem to work. Any suggestions?

                    @brettiamthelab: Hi, in case you mean the titles of your recent posts, the following CSS should actually work:

                    h3.rp-title {
                    text-align: center;
                    }

                    Best,
                    Marc

            I’ve noticed that the modifications I made to the header logo have caused a change to the mobile versions of Tatami. Now my logo floats on top of the first post on both the iPhone and iPad. What do I need to do to fix that? Would I add padding to the mobile css? http://www.iamthelab.com

              @Brett: I think in this case I would recommend you to include 2 logo versions (a small and a big one), since the default Tatami custom logo can only be 75px max height. I explained the CSS in this post: http://themeforum.elmastudio.de/2013/06/21/custom-logo-in-mobile-version/#comment-39135

              The custom CSS in my second reply works, I tested it myself on a demo site. We also did the same on the Elmastudio site, so you can check the CSS there, too.

              Best, Ellen

              @brettiamthelab: Okay, oh, I’m sorry to hear that. I will test the code myself again this weekend and then I will post here again. I’m sure we can get it working correctly! Best, Ellen

              It’s important that the Custom Logo field in the theme options remains empty, so that Ellen’s solution with 2 logos works. Or add !important to the background property.

              Thumbnails

              Hi,

              Is there a way to use thumbnails without them showing up in the posts? I want to use the Recent Post Widget without having the thumbnail appear in the post. Also, the thumbnails in the widget are not the same length as yours. How do I fix that?

              • Ellen 11:52 pm on July 3, 2013 Permalink | Log in to Reply

                @brettiamthelab: Yes, but you would need to edit the content-single.php file (and content.php files, if you want to delete the thumbnails also on the blog frontpage) and delete this:

                <?php else : ?>
                <?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() && $theme_thumbnail == 'thumbnail-big' && ! is_search() ) : // Show big thumbnail below the headline. ?>
                <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>" class="post-thumb">
                <?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>
                </a>
                <?php elseif ( has_post_thumbnail() && $theme_thumbnail == 'thumbnail-small' && ! is_search() ) :  // Show small thumbnail below the headline. ?>
                <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>" class="post-thumb-small">
                <?php the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail'); ?>
                </a>

                Post width in Tatami

                Hello,

                I am working on the Tatami theme and I have all the post images set at 600px wide. How do I adjust the text to that size as well? It looks like the post body is set at 760px wide?

                  @brettiamthelab: You would need to add more padding (default is 40px) to the following CSS style:

                  .entry-content, .entry-summary {
                  padding: 0 40px 40px;
                  }

                  You can find the code inside the media queries min-width 1260px. Best, Ellen

                  Baylys Search – Change from Excepts to Full posts

                  Anyone know the exact adjustments I need to make to the content.php so that searching categories will show entire posts vs. excerpts?

                    @brettiamthelab: I think it should work by just deleting the following code snippet in line 23 of the content.php file:

                    || is_search()

                      Hi Ellen,

                      I removed is_search from line 23 and it removed all text from the search results. Any other suggestions?

                        more than a year after your post, I had the same issue. Resolved it by changing in line 25 of the content.php file:

                        into

                        Now searching categories shows the full posts.

                          sorry the code I gave in doens’t show up in the reply:
                          change
                          ?php the_excerpt(); ?
                          into
                          ?php the_content(); ?

                    Sidebar Text Widget

                    I noticed that I can add a two column text widget to the sidebar. However, once I add images to the columns, the formatting breaks. Any way to fix this? http://www.inspire.iamthelab.com
