      Suidobashi colored background

      Hi Elma-Team,

      This question may be considered an individual design addition, but it is related to the ability to change the background color on the About page in the Suidobashi theme. Is it possible to change the background color on the blog/journal page as well as all individual blog/journal post pages (one color for all pages). My front page is the Jetpack Portfolio. As always, any hints would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks very much,
      Michael

        Hi Michael,

        the following additional CSS code should color the background on your posts page as well as the single post pages and the archive pages displaying posts:

        .blog, .single-post, .archive.category, .archive.tag {
        	background: #ff0000;
        }

        Best,
        Marc

        Suidobashi wide-content cut off on the right side

        Dear Elma Team,

        I am still very happy with Suidobashi. I noticed that I have images and text in the wide-content container cut off on the right side before it scales down, but only if I make the browser window smaller. I read other comments that there was a bug in other themes. My version of Suidobashi is 1.0.4. I was under the impression that this is the latest version. Do you have a fix for this problem?

        Thanks very much,
        Michael

          Hi Michael,

          are you using the container on a full-width page? The container should work only on posts and default template pages and isn’t needed on full-width pages. If this isn’t the case, please post a direct link to the problematic page, so I can investigate the problem further.

          Best,
          Marc

            Hi Marc,

            Thanks for your reply. I am using the wide-content container on a post page.
            All images on the page are 1920px wide to account for Retina screens.
            Thanks for investigating this issue.

            A couple of months ago, I posted another question which Ellen answered. This was with regards to making the top main navigation underlined when on a specific page to tell users where they are. Here is what she provided:

            1. Yes, you could do this with custom CSS like so:
            .menu-main-container .current-menu-item a {border-bottom: 1px solid #000;}

            I added it to the child theme, but unfortunately, that did not work. Would you have any advice for that as well?

            Thanks so much,
            Michael

              Hi Michael,

              the problem is related to your CSS code changes at the following lines:

              /* Minimum width of 1150 pixels (laptops 13")
              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ */
              @media screen and (min-width: 800px) {

              The wide-content-container’s properties are based on the original minimum width of 1150 pixels. You’d need to adjust these changes further in order to prevent this cut off from happing. Please understand that we cannot provide help for individual customizations in the forum.

              Please replace Ellen’s code with the following:

              #site-nav .current-menu-item a {border-bottom: 1px solid #000;}

              Best,
              Marc

                Hi Marc,

                Thank you very much for your reply. I remember now that I tried to make the shift in responsiveness from larger to smaller screens more gradual, less jumpy, but that did not work, obviously. Your suggestion fixed the problem. And the nav underline now works as well.

                Again, great themes, and thanks again for your responses.

                Best,
                Michael

        Suidobashi: Underlined main navigation and Journal title

        Dear Elma-Team,

        Fantastic WordPress themes, especially Suidobashi. I have two questions for the Suidobashi theme:

        1. Is it possible to make the main navigational items permanently underlined when a user is on the respective pages to keep the user aware that they are on the right page? Meaning, I am on the page “Journal” and the nav word “Journal” stays underlined, etc.?

        2. Is it possible to add a title to the Journal page (e.g. “Welcome to the Journal”) that will stay at the top and that is not controlled by an entry?

        Many thanks,
        Michael

          Hi Michael,

          thank you so much for your great feedback. I’m happy that you like Suidobashi and our themes :) Regarding your questions:

          1. Yes, you could do this with custom CSS like so:

          .menu-main-container .current-menu-item a {border-bottom: 1px solid #000;}

          2. In this case you would need to change the index.php theme file (maybe in a child theme) and add something like:

          <h1 class="custom-blog-title">Welcome to the Journal</h1>

          I hope this is helpful.
          Best, Ellen
