      Weta: setting portfolio

      Hello Elmastudio

      I finally have my website running on Weta theme! Such a nice versatile theme it is! i’m really enthusiastic for the day I set WooCommerce in it.

      By the time there is something that I would like to share with you that I think would be a great theme improvement — portfolio support.

      I formally had the website running on Onigiri and that thumbnail layout it’s so amazing that it’s a pity one can’t benefit it in this more complex theme like Weta.

      It’s really an important tool for shops, projects and artists. In the case of my website I set a library page, a workshop page and a projects page and a recipe catalogue and it would make much more sense to have them as image thumbnails for projects.

      I tried to set it with jetpack, but configuration is bizarre and then widgets and website is not prepared to it! PLEASE (and be aware that i love Elmastudio so much!!! =) ) give it a thought in setting this improvement! Notice it is not just a individual requirement, but I do believe it’s a must have in a shop theme, and I’m not he only one —-> http://themeforum.elmastudio.de/2016/01/13/mixed-themes/

      My website: http://www.local.org.pt (sorry but i still didn’t manage to do it bilingual)

      Also:

      • How does one center footer credits? it’s colliding with submit box.
      • How does one set website image, meaning, when I share the link of my website the image shared is the one from the last post, how can I set a specific picture or set of pictures to be shown?
      • another great improvement for an widget would be slideshow! by now i just used image widget and it’s doing fine.

      viele danke
      tschüss

        Hallo @hugo-dunkel,

        thank you for your suggestions, I’m happy to forward them to be considered in future updates.

        To center your credit info, you can use the following additional CSS code:

        @media screen and (min-width: 1260px) {
        	#colophon #site-info {
        		width: 100%;
        	}
        	#colophon #site-info ul {
        		text-align: center;
        		width: 100%;
        	}
        }

        Most social media services use the open graph tag to identify the image to be used for shared content. You can use a open graph supporting SEO plugin to set custom images as open graph image or simply use the existing featured image in posts or pages.

        To add slideshows to Weta’s widget areas, you can use existing plugins, but I guess some adjustments are needed anyway.

        Best,
        Marc

        Thanks Marc

        it was so straightforward to center the credits!!

        3 major drought to finish m website structure:

        1- So, I still didn’t manage to set up Portfolio in Weta, would you be so king and give me tips about it?
        do you know of any plugin allowing the same functionality as Onigiri, meaning, thumbnail image with text on top!?

        2- in Weta’s documentation there is reference that one can set the mailchimp subscription through the subscription box but i could only set the blog subscription which i really didn’t want to. If there’s no chance to turn it into mailchimp subscription how do I remove it?

        3- Any idea about sending events page with calendar!?

        thank you so much and have a nice day

          Hi @hugo-dunkel,

          1) unfortunately Weta doesn’t support the Portfolio feature of the Jetpack plugin like Onigiri for example. However you can still activate this feature in your Dashboard at Jetpack -> Settings -> Custom Content Types and then Settings -> Writing -> Enable Portfolio Projects for this site. Please be aware that you may need to add custom CSS code.

          Unfortunately I’m not aware of such a plugin.

          2) Did you install the “Mailchimp for WordPress” plugin? The plugin provides a widget which you can place in the Blog Subscribe widget area.

          3) You need to choose a plugin and presumably add some CSS code adjustments, since these plugins mostly are designed for default themes like Twenty Sixteen.

          Please understand that we cannot provide help for unsupported plugins or features in the forum.

          Best,
          Marc

      thanks for the amazing theme. if questions are out of the context please ignore and help me just with what you can:

      this is the website of the local organic food project I’m setting – local.org.pt

      • How do I reduce space between header address and images on the homepage?
      • I would like to have the homepage as a portfolio whose images (with mousseover effect and title) link to different pages (pages from the website and others like facebook) and not projects, is that possible?, I like the fist page template idea of http://themes.elmastudio.de/blackwalnut/ having several images as homepage. What I did was to set a page with images, but I can’t set images location where I want and I don’t know how to set them white and with a visible title with mousseover.
      • How do you introduce maichimp Newsletter successfully, I used the plugin but have no way to introduce it in the website pages or homepage.
      • this you came across any event list or calendar that matches onigiri look?

        Hi Hugo,
        I’m happy that you like the Onigiri theme! Regarding your questions:

        • Could you try to add the following custom CSS (via custom CSS option of Jetpack):
        @media screen and (min-width: 1150px) {
        #primary {padding-top: 85px;}
        }

        Please let me know, if this is not working.

        • Since Onigiri is a portfolio theme, only portfolio projects will be visible with the clickable preview images (like in the Onigiri live demo). Black Walnut offers a custom setting to include images and custom links instead.
        • You can use the code of the custom signup forms you can create in Mailchimp and embed it into a new page called “Newsletter”. I think this is the easiest solution. More on signup forms for Mailchimp here: http://mailchimp.com/features/custom-forms/
        • You can create a custom menu for your main menu under Appearance / Menus. Here you can include links or categories.

        Best, Ellen

          Thanks Ellen so much

          I might be really dumb! I can’t understand how this forum notification works and only found your answer last week when googling the same questions! by now website is almost ready, i have some final resolutions to have it finished – http://www.local.org.pt

          so,

          . adding custom CSS didn’t work with the position of the front page image
          i still want to have image touching the top of the window, assuring, in any case, that Front Page Header Intro Text appears under logo.

          . when in portfolio pages how do i remove/hide ALL PROJECTS FILED UNDER ‘PROJECTOS’

          . in onigiri links are only underlined whit mousse over, that prevents users to realized there is a link. only if they the mousse over the link they will realize so. can one change link definition to make it more like in sudobashi theme?

          . when creating portfolio pages onde can group different projects in each portfolio. I have three portfolio pages. when clicking in a specific project from one of the portfolios follows FURTHER PROJECTS. what happen is that i have all projects from the website and not only the ones from that portfolio page! How can i go around that issue and how can i remove the title FURTHER PROJECTS and just have the projects on the bottom.

          hope you can help me with this so i can finalize and present it to the world!

          thanks so much again, Hugo
