      UKU 1,2 & 3

      Hi Marc & Ellen (Elmastudio team)

      Happy New Year!
      I have not been on the Forum in ages so please forgive me if you have already dealt with this;
      A simple question—I have just downloaded the link to the theme bundle but a bit confused with the labels on UKU. I just want to install RUAPUKE. So which UKU version contains the Ruapuke files?
      Thanks, Bolaji

        Hi Bolaji,

        after extracting the bundle zip file, you should see a “themes” and a “livedemo-contents” folder. The Uku theme with all three design styles can be found in the “themes” folder. You don’t need the live demo files if you want to add demo content to Uku, since it newly support the “One Click Demo Import” plugin. You can install this plugin and choose the Ruapuke demo content and it will be downloaded and installed automatically.

        Best,
        Marc

        WETA FONTS

        Hi Ellen and Elma Team,

        I am resubmitting this query about my Weta theme fonts. What I have on my site (http://printsplease.co.uk) is different from what the demote promised. I have not changed the CSS, just uploaded the theme from my theme bundle. Grateful for your prompt assistance or advice.

          Check the typography. You can change the fonts there, no CSS needed.

          Hi Bolaji,

          I’m not able to see any differences. Please update to the latest version of Weta. Can you tell us exactly which part of your theme appears in the wrong font?

        WETA DEFAULT FONT

        Dear Ellen & Team,

        Just a bit rusty with your themes. How do I make fonts default to Weta’s original fonts for the site title? Site title font currently appears in italics and capitals.

          Hi there,
          could you let me know your website URL, this way I can help you with the correct CSS styles. Did you already make some changes to the CSS, since the default styles in the Weta are not italic or capital letters?

          Dear Ellen & Marc,

          I’m sure you know it’s Bolaji already. Now we have a beautiful shop theme. But we need to stock the shop now!
          I have two sites using Zuki and Ubud. To use Weta as our shop theme, will I need to;

          1. Create a Shop menu in those websites.
          2. Construct the shops with Weta.
          3. Link the Shop menu from those sites (Zuki and Ubud) to the Weta standalone shops.

          Grateful if you would kindly take me through the steps i need to follow.
          How do I download Weta. Not sure if the link to my theme bundle purchase is still active.
          And lastly how do we collect the cash/money from customers after they’ve made payments with their cards?
          I have a Paypal account but not sure if that might be helpful. Do we need to register with WooCommerce?
          Thank you for all your support.

            Hi,

            you can easily create links in your menus by choosing Appearance -> Menus in your dashboard and adding a link (see left hand side, “Custom Link”).

            Weta only displays your shop content, the shops backend with products, prices and payment providers runs completely within the WooCommerce plugin. Your questions regarding the shop functionality can be answered best here: https://support.woothemes.com/hc/en-us

          Dear Ellen, Mark and the Elma Team,

          I have not being able to modify visibility settings to hide recent posts in the Recent Posts (Big 2) widget. It always defaults to the most recent post. That is after visibility settings have been changed to hide recent post. It won’t show any other post apart from the last post even with tag and category changed.

          Let me know any other way to conquer this problem.
          Thanks,

            Hi Bolaji,

            the visibility settings can not be used to hide certain posts in the recent posts (unfortunately this Jetpack setting is a little bit confusing). The option can only be used to hide a complete specific widgets on certain pages/areas of your website.

            Can the Elma Studio team please help me with above? Although I have discussed this topic with a member of the forum, I still can’t make the changes I need to make.
            I continue to struggle to modify specific pages in Zuki without applying such changes sitewide. How would I make the following changes to any page of my choosing?

            1. Logo
            2. Text & font colour
            3. Header image
            4. Background image

              Hi Bolaji,

              you can use a plugin for custom CSS code or add the code additionally in your child themes style.css.

              To apply changes only for specific pages, you can use the page ID, that you can find in your browsers address bar while editing the page:

              .../post.php?post=14&action=edit

              The URL above shows, that you are editing ID 14.

              In this case, to modify only elements on the page with the ID 14, you can use the following CSS selector as prefix for your custom changes:

              // to change the following element only on page 14 ...
              	.front-fullwidth .rp-big-two p.summary {
              		...
              	}
              // use this selector as prefix: .page-id-14
              	.page-id-14 .front-fullwidth .rp-big-two p.summary {
              		...
              	}

              Best,
              Marc

                Hope you are settling into NZ life and sorry to keep banging on about this. You did promise you will be releasing a shop theme by mid-summer. Just wondering how close you are to doing so or how it’s coming along. We need one badly for our business model to work. Nobody pays for journalism anymore so we need to sell our ideas and products. I’m sure it will be worth the wait ….

                Warm regards,

                  no worries at all, I’m so sorry for my late reply. Yes, we are working on the shop-compatible theme at the moment (it will be a pretty flexible magazine theme with WooCommerce support). I’m so sorry that we are still not finished, I hope we can release the new theme within the first 2 weeks in August. If you like I can give you further details, if you email me or write here at the end of the months.

                    Hi,

                    unfortunately there are no table shortcodes available in Zuki, but there are some plugins which add table interfaces or shortcodes to add tables without writing the table HTML.

                    Hi Ellen & Marc,
                    Hope you are all well. Have you noticed that the Zuki Search icon does not actually work? But I could be wrong … Anyway, when you click on it with a search query nothing happens. Until you press the return key on your keyboard. Has it been designed to function this way? I have performed the same test on other websites built with Zuki and the results were the same.
                    The icon really ought to work when clicked for the best user experience.
                    Secondly, could you tell me how to set the excerpts in Zuki, I just can’t seem to get it right. I need to control the amount of text shown on the front page slider and for recent posts.

                      Hi,

                      are you talking about the icon to open and close the input field? This button actually only does that. I’ll forward your request, so it might be considered in a future update.

                      Zuki uses a custom excerpt function. You can assign a word count to the function zuki_excerpt, it’s called in inc/widgets.php (for excerpts in widgets) and in content-featured-post.php (for the slider).

                      Best,
                      Marc

                        Hi,

                        unfortunately it’s actually a customization. Zukis advantage is the provided flex slider library, so you can use code like the one in this article (in German, maybe translating it with a web translator can help) directly without implementing the JavaScript or CSS code by yourself. Some adjustments are still necessary (CSS code) but I guess this is a good start.

                          Hi Ellen & Marc,
                          Wishing you a happy and peaceful Easter.
                          1. Please help, I just can’t figure out how to insert or display image carousels/galleries inside posts in the Zuki theme.
                          In the post editor, the only option available is to insert media which takes you into the media library.
                          No mentions of creating a gallery or carousel.
                          But I’m sure you’ll have the answers. You always do.

                          2. Is it also possible to override with CSS the images displayed alongside recent post widgets to avoid the many duplications of the same images. I have tried to think of a solution but can’t find any. This will take Zuki up a notch. It is already such a beautiful magazine theme.

                          3. The beta website is here: http://new.westlondontoday.co.uk

                          Warm regards,
                          Bolaji

                            Hi,

                            1. after clicking “Add Media” you should be able to choose “Create Gallery” on the top left (between “Insert Media” and “Set Featured Image”). If the entry is missing, please make sure that you’re using the latest version of WordPress and try to deactivate your plugins in order to check if a plugin is responsible for this problem.

                            2. I’m not sure if I understand you correctly. Do you want to disable the creation of different image sizes for each uploaded image?

                            Do you want to prevent the display of the same post in different widgets? If so, you can simply create different categories and choose these in the widgets settings.

                            Best,
                            Marc

                            Tags: Multiple static front page,

                            Hi Ellen, Marc & Elma Angels,

                            Sorry I’ve been so quiet, but I’m back for your technical wisdom.

                            1. Today it’s all about Zuki. I have experimented with creating multiple (more than one) static front pages for the News/Lifestyle magazine website I am currently working on, but I am not sure if this is technically possible. Think New York Times, Time, CNN, etc, with loads of sections to navigate to. I understand TAGS will help signpost content but it limits how you can present different types of content. I’m also not sure how I synchronise my header menus with the different sections/content. Sorry no screenshots yet as I just want to work out my starting points and layout options.

                            2. Is it possible to indicate the number of featured items in the Zuki Slider? Since it does not move automatically, readers cannot tell if there is any other story beyond the first slide. The arrows are also located in the bottom left corner of the slide. Can the arrows be moved up to the middle of the slide?

                            Thanks as always for always being helpful, even when you could easily say we do not offer customisation!

                            Regards,

                            Bolaji

                              Hi Bolaji,

                              1. there are different menu plugins available, which can display the submenu of one item as first level, if you are within this navigation tree. Unfortunately I’m not able to recommend a specific plugin, but I think it’s worth looking for.

                              2. The following CSS code should move the arrows (which are shown at the bottom only on smaller resolutions) to the middle:

                              #featured-content .flex-direction-nav li a {
                              bottom: 50%;
                              }

                              Please understand that we generally cannot provide help for theme customizations in the forum.

                              Best,
                              Marc

                              Hi Ellen & Elma Angels,

                              Just want to disable/remove comments on static home page in Dorayaki. I guess it needs a CSS grade fix.
                              Thanks.

                                Hi Ellen and Elma Angels,

                                I have come back again because of a little glitch. So small, you might not have noticed it even in the Dorayaki theme demo. The Testimonial widget quote marks is displaying the wrong way round. If we cannot fix it, can we just do away with it altogether?
                                Please see screenshot below;

                                  Hi,

                                  the following CSS code should change the marks to fit for the English language:

                                  .team-box .tm-quote p:before {
                                      content: '\201c';
                                  }

                                  .team-box .tm-quote p:after {
                                      content: '\201d';
                                  }

                                  Best,
                                  Marc

                                  Apply CSS to individual Pages in the Elma Theme Bundle

                                  Hi Ellen & Elma Gurus,

                                  Just trying to figure out how to apply CSS to individual pages across all your themes (Theme Bundle). I couldn’t find any answers in the forum. CSS changes I have made so far tends to change the whole website when all I want is to affect just a specific page.

                                  Grateful for your technical knowledge as ever.

                                  Thanks,

                                  Bolaji

                                    Hi Bolaji,

                                    I´m no guru – but had the same thing awhile ago. You need the Page ID and then you can add your custom styles to your custom.css.

                                    Like this example:

                                    .page-id-37 .hentry{ float: left; width: 761px;}
                                    .page-id-37 .entry-content{ margin: auto auto auto 71px;}
                                    .page-id-37 #primary {padding-left: 0;}

                                    Hope this helps,
                                    Michael

                                      Thanks so much. Very kind of you to help out. May I ask where I can find the Page ID information? That should be the last jigsaw in the puzzle. Thanks once again.
