      Hi Mark,

      I keep looking in but have had no reply to my post on 25th August. You said you were going to have a look at the doubling up issue, where Post No 2 has duplicated itself and gone to the bottom of the page, where there is no widget. I can’t delete this duplication.
      Also you can see that the third experimental post threw the first post of its spot too.
      This is the site:
      http://www.learntoloveagain.co.uk

      If you can help. Would like to progress and not have to give up.

        Hi Ellen,

        Perhaps what I’m trying to do can’t be done.
        I would like the two posts at the top to remain there, static, until such time as need to change. So, like a header. (But don’t want a big header, so chose this design)

        All Latest Posts after that (careful not to use the same headings/tags as above) to go to a Widget/box below.

        I am a bit clearer on how those widgets work now.
        But, still I can’t clear the second showing (down below on the front page in a position where there isn’t a widget) of my second post.
        My third post, a test post (without any tags) flew into the position of my first premier post and pushed the existing post down the page.

        Is it resolvable? Or is what I’m aiming to do not feasible? Kind regards, Denise

          Hi Denise,

          if you use distinctive tags or categories for the posts you want to display in the top widget areas, the posts shouldn’t be moved by newly added posts. To prevent duplicate posts you can create a category or tag for the “other” posts and select this category / tag in your recent posts widget.

          In case I’m misunderstanding your request, please post a link to your website. Viewing it live should clear things up.

          Best,
          Marc

          Oh, thank you. But don’t forget Post No 2 has duplicated itself and gone to the bottom of the page where there is no widget. I can’t delete this duplication. You can see the third post which threw off the first post too.

            I’ve checked here several times but there has not been a reply to my queries. I still cannot get the front page to work. Soon this email/thread will be lost it’s so far back. I have been trying for such a long time to get it to work. Will it do what I want?

              Hi Denise,

              sorry for my late reply. I’ve checked your website: You’re using the three column layout and placed two widgets in the left and the middle column. Your left column widget displays the duplicated post as well because of its settings. Your chosen categories / tags include this post as well. I guess you are using no special tags / categories for the first widget, so this widget will display all your posts regardless of whether other widgets display these posts.

              You can assign the posts for the left column to the category or tag “diet and emotions” for example and chose this tag in your widgets settings. Please note that you need to use the slug, which is displayed in your dashboard at Posts -> Categories / Tags. It’s a short single-worded form for the category or tag.

              Best,
              Marc

          When I make a Post and put in a neat small photo, this does not go through to the Front Page. I have to add a Featured Post Picture, down the bottom. This means though, that if I look on the Post page, the pictures Double up. Also the featured post picture comes out So Large on the post page. Can’t fathom.

            You can choose to hide the Featured Images on single posts under Appearance / Customize / Theme. This way you can just add a regular image to your post and the Featured image will only be used on the Front page.

            Ponsonby. I so want my theme to work but can’t get control of the Posts appearing on Static front Page. When I make a second post…it shows twice always, sometimes forcing the first post off its place. I’ve taken the site down, and put it back up again. Sadly, I’ve had no support/reply…

            Is it possible to reduce the header typeface size as coming out very big on my front page? regards, Denise

              Hi there,

              you can use the following custom CSS to reduce the site title font size:

              @media screen and (min-width: 1240px) {
              #site-title h1 {
              font-size: 28px;
              font-size: 1.75rem;
              }
              }

              Best, Ellen

                Hi, I’ve just seen your replies. So happy. The CSS – does that go in the Editing department with all the mass of codes? Or can you put it on the Post page? As you would to edit the layout of the copy of a Post Page. However, the title doesn’t get mentioned when you look at the Words layout v the Vision layout.

              Ponsonby. I am trying to lay out like the demo. I’ve got my first post and it shows on Front Page with photo. Fine. But when I put in a second Post, it erases or replaces the first one…and I end up with two posts being featured exactly the same and the first one disappeared. I gave the second post the Tag name of the title of the second widget. I’ve deleted second post as looked odd. Could you advise?

                Hi there,

                could you let me know your website URL, so I can have a look at your current layout? This way I can better help you. In generel You need to add multiple Ponsonby Recent Posts widgets to the different Front page widget areas. The posts will always be added below each other so to use the full width of the theme, you need to use all three widget areas (left, center, right).

                Please let me know your URL and I will try to help you further!
                Best , Ellen

                  Thank you. I’ve tried so hard. Have taken site down and put back up again. My second Post always doubles up – and sometimes pushes the first post out of its spot – and replaces it. Its a rehearsal site at the moment.

                    Hi Denise,

                    I just visited your website, I think the only issue is the post filtering. In order to not show all posts in the widgets, you need to filter the posts in a widget by either post categories or post tags. This way you can sort your posts in each widget by a specific topic and avoid double posts (by default all latest posts will be added to your widget and if you filter only the latest posts of a specific category or tag will be included in the widget).

                    I hope my explanation is helpful, I’m so sorry for the late reply.
                    Best, Ellen

                      I’m still struggling. I carefully only had two widgets on front page. Nevertheless, one post went to its correct Named position and yet also jumped onto the front page below – where there is no widget.

                      I’ve just done a test post with nothing in it to see where the third post would go – and gave it no Tag – and it displaced the first post which I wanted to stay there. And the double post from the second post still exists. I’m not understanding the theory at all. Will I not be able to “fix’ the three posts I want on the first page? Then just new updated posts coming in down below. That’s what I’m after.
