      Widening Blog Post Content Area

      Howdy –

      Love that UKU allows me to remove the sidebar on posts. What would be a step further would be to offer either a fullwidth option for blog posts or to at least widen it to at least 1000 px.

        Font Adjustment for UKU Ruapuke

        Hello:

        I’ve been able to change the primary fonts for Ruapuke but I’m struggling to find the right code for changing the About section and the Woocommerce product descriptions.
        Can you assist? I’m using both the Custom CSS and the Google Font plugin by Titanium Themes.

        Hello I noticed that on the Hawea theme…

        Hello,

        I noticed that on the Hawea theme, when you add a product that has an external link, the button disappears and only the text is visible. How can I adjust this so that the button looks the same as a regular product?

          Hi Brett,

          I see what you mean. Could you let me know, how you added the link? Is it just a standard way and you just chose an external link, when you set up your product.

          In the code I see that it’s not a button style and I wander why. If you let me know the details, I could recreate the product easier to test it myself.

          Thanks so much for your help!
          Best, Ellen

            please try the following additional CSS code:

            .single_add_to_cart_button {

                overflow: visible;

            	outline: none;
            	height: 75px;

          Change products per page in Weta Woocommerce Shop

          Hi,

            Hi Brett,

            by default WooCommerce displays as many products per page as WordPress displays blog entries per page. This setting can be found in your dashboard at Settings -> Reading.

            If you want to use different values, you need to add special code to your functions.php. I strongly recommend using a child theme for these changes. A prepared child theme directory is linked in the Weta documentation.

            WooCommerce itself provides the code and further information on this matter: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/change-number-of-products-displayed-per-page/

            Marc

            Move Shop Page Numbers

            Hello –

            I have a client who is using the Weta theme for a shop and wants to move the page numbers to the top of the page vs. the bottom right corner. Can you assist?

              Hi Brett,

              which kind of page numbers do you want to move? The pagination for the blog entries on the blog page or on archive pages (provided by a plugin, since Weta only displays “Previous Posts” and “Next Posts” links) or the pagination for single posts split into multiple pages?

              Best,
              Marc

                Hi Brett,

                after sending my answer, I figured you’re referring to the list of products. Weta uses the default WooCommerce templates. The following addition to your child themes functions.php should move the pagination from bottom to top.

                /* Show pagination on the top of shop page */
                add_action( 'woocommerce_before_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_pagination', 10 );

                /* Remove pagination on the bottom of shop page */
                remove_action( 'woocommerce_after_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_pagination', 10 );

                You may need to style the element with additional CSS code in order to be displayed the way your client want it to.

                Best,
                Marc

                  Hi Brett,

                  you can place an image in your theme’s footer.php. Please use a child theme for direct theme code changes. A prepared child theme folder is linked in the Uku documentation. The following line contains the site title:

                  		<p class="title-footer"><?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?></p>

                      Hi Brett,

                      the line of code above can be replaced with HTML to insert an image. Something like the following should work:

                      <img src="http://url.to/image-file.jpg" class="footer-image">

                      Any further adjustments can be done by addressing the .footer-image class with CSS code.

                      Best,
                      Marc

                Featured Posts on Hawea Homepage

                First, thanks for always being so helpful.

                I’d like to be able to have a few featured posts on the Hawea homepage, similar to how you have them on the Weta theme.

                  Hi Brett, unfortunately Hawea has only a shop featured Front page, since it’s more of a shop-only theme compared to Weta, which is more Magazine focused. So unfortunately you would need to customize this.

                  Equal Sized Front Page Product Category Images

                    Hi Brett,

                    you can try the following additional CSS code:

                    @media screen and (min-width: 767px) {
                    	#front-cats ul.products li.product-category {
                    		width: 50% !important;
                    	}
                    }

                    You can try smaller values as well, the masonry JavaScript should align the images accordingly.

                    Best,
                    Marc

                            @brettiamthelab: Hi, most browsers can inspect elements. Try clicking on an element (in your case the slider text) with the right mouse button and choose “Inspect Element”, “Element Information” or something like this.

                            A tool should open which shows the currently used CSS to style those elements. You then should easily recognize which combination of classes and ids you could use to change the styling with CSS.

                            Hi Ellen,

                            I’m working on a new site and trying to change the size of the thumbnail in the Recent Post widget. I would like the thumbnail to fill the widget vs. being a small image. I would also like to limit the characters shown so that all of the recent post items are the same size. Where should I begin? Here is the test site: http://innerlab.iamthelab.com

                              @brettiamthelab: Hi, the following CSS should deactivate the limitation of the thumbnail size:

                              ul.dorayaki-rp li.rp-box a.rp-thumb {
                              max-width: none;
                              }

                              Unfortunately I have no great solution to force the same size on your recent post items. There is no easy way to determine the length, because the words break differently and the used font is no monospace font. I think the only way is to set the excerpt manually (Screen Options -> Excerpt in your editor), but then the text would still break differently on the various display sizes and zoom steps.

                                  @Brett: I think in this case I would recommend you to include 2 logo versions (a small and a big one), since the default Tatami custom logo can only be 75px max height. I explained the CSS in this post: http://themeforum.elmastudio.de/2013/06/21/custom-logo-in-mobile-version/#comment-39135

                                  The custom CSS in my second reply works, I tested it myself on a demo site. We also did the same on the Elmastudio site, so you can check the CSS there, too.

                                  Best, Ellen

                                  @brettiamthelab: Okay, oh, I’m sorry to hear that. I will test the code myself again this weekend and then I will post here again. I’m sure we can get it working correctly! Best, Ellen

                                  It’s important that the Custom Logo field in the theme options remains empty, so that Ellen’s solution with 2 logos works. Or add !important to the background property.

                                  Thumbnails

                                  Hi,

                                  Is there a way to use thumbnails without them showing up in the posts? I want to use the Recent Post Widget without having the thumbnail appear in the post. Also, the thumbnails in the widget are not the same length as yours. How do I fix that?

                                    @brettiamthelab: Yes, but you would need to edit the content-single.php file (and content.php files, if you want to delete the thumbnails also on the blog frontpage) and delete this:

                                    <?php else : ?>
                                    <?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() && $theme_thumbnail == 'thumbnail-big' && ! is_search() ) : // Show big thumbnail below the headline. ?>
                                    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>" class="post-thumb">
                                    <?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>
                                    </a>
                                    <?php elseif ( has_post_thumbnail() && $theme_thumbnail == 'thumbnail-small' && ! is_search() ) :  // Show small thumbnail below the headline. ?>
                                    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>" class="post-thumb-small">
                                    <?php the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail'); ?>
                                    </a>

                                    Post width in Tatami

                                    Hello,

                                    I am working on the Tatami theme and I have all the post images set at 600px wide. How do I adjust the text to that size as well? It looks like the post body is set at 760px wide?

                                      @brettiamthelab: You would need to add more padding (default is 40px) to the following CSS style:

                                      .entry-content, .entry-summary {
                                      padding: 0 40px 40px;
                                      }

                                      You can find the code inside the media queries min-width 1260px. Best, Ellen

                                      Baylys Search – Change from Excepts to Full posts

                                      Anyone know the exact adjustments I need to make to the content.php so that searching categories will show entire posts vs. excerpts?

                                        @brettiamthelab: I think it should work by just deleting the following code snippet in line 23 of the content.php file:

                                        || is_search()

                                          Hi Ellen,

                                          I removed is_search from line 23 and it removed all text from the search results. Any other suggestions?

                                            more than a year after your post, I had the same issue. Resolved it by changing in line 25 of the content.php file:

                                            into

                                            Now searching categories shows the full posts.

                                        Sidebar Text Widget

                                        I noticed that I can add a two column text widget to the sidebar. However, once I add images to the columns, the formatting breaks. Any way to fix this? http://www.inspire.iamthelab.com

                                          @brettiamthelab: Okay, I will test that again for the upcoming Renkon update. Did you use the Multicolumn Shortcodes for the text widget? Best, Ellen
